Governor Oyebanji: Two Years of Empty Promises and No Results - Ayo Daini
A Canada base and a prominent Ikole LG Indigene Mr Ayo Daini has come out to make his opinion known over the current Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji's activities.
He made this known on his personal Facebook account on Sunday 15th January 2025.
He narrated as follows:
As we approach another election cycle, one cannot help but reflect on the past two years under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership. Two years in office, and yet, there is little to show for it. The people of this state have been left to bear the brunt of empty promises and half-hearted efforts, while our lives continue to deteriorate with each passing day.
The reality on the ground is far from the glossy speeches and campaign rhetoric. Daily life has become a struggle for the average citizen. The cost of living has skyrocketed, yet wages remain stagnant. People are barely able to afford their daily meals. The economic hardship faced by families is palpable. Small businesses are collapsing under the weight of inflation and poor governance. Instead of finding solutions to these pressing issues, Governor Oyebanji has spent his time seeking endorsements and preparing for reelection, as if his two years of underperformance warrant another term.
What about our youth? University students graduate with the hope of a brighter future, only to be met with the harsh reality of unemployment and underemployment. The state has failed to create the infrastructure for meaningful job opportunities. Thousands of graduates have found themselves stuck in an endless cycle of joblessness, with no clear path to a prosperous future. This is the legacy Governor Oyebanji is seeking to extend?
It is time for us to demand more. The people of this state deserve better than a leader who is more interested in securing personal political endorsements than in solving the real problems of the people. Our state is not a political playground— it’s a place where families struggle to make ends meet, where students can’t find jobs after graduation, and where hopes for a better tomorrow continue to fade.
Governor Oyebanji may be seeking reelection, but we need to ask ourselves: What has he truly done for us? Until we see concrete change—tangible results that lift the people from poverty, provide job opportunities for our youth, and ensure that no one goes to bed hungry—we must reject the politics of continuity without progress.
The future of this state is too important to leave in the hands of someone who has proven incapable of delivering the change we need. It’s time for leadership that listens, that works, and that delivers—because under Governor Oyebanji, all we’ve gotten is empty promises.
