GENIUS WAY TO SCHEDULE SOCIAL MEDIA WHEN YOU HAVE LITTLE CONTENT

A big key to growing your blog is to keep up with regular self-promotion by way of posting on social media. But what do you do when you have very little content to share? It feels monotonous (and kind of icky) to keep posting about your same handful of topics day to day. And let’s be real… you aren’t going to gain an audience that way.

I’ve run into this snag many times over when starting new blogs – you end up trying to find creative ways to bring up the same posts and it becomes increasingly difficult. This is especially true if you schedule out your social media every week like I do.

Never fear, for I have the perfect trick that’s going to revolutionize how you use social media… and I’m even going to walk you through step-by-step and share all of the tools I use to make it happen.

-SOCIAL SUNDAY
Every Sunday (sometimes Saturday night with a glass of wine), I sit down at my desk with one goal in mind: Schedule all of my social media for the week. That’s posts for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. I know that sounds terrible and you’d probably rather be doing something much more fun with your Sunday. You can certainly choose whatever day you’d like to do it, but I call this #SocialSunday

I spend an average 3 hours working on scheduling my social media. You may find that it takes you a little longer at first, but with practice you’ll soon knock down the amount of time you have to spend on it. Best part? You get it all done and you don’t have to worry about whether or not you’ve promoted yourself or were active on social media all. week. long.

Yes, your social media queue can look just like mine (but probably better)…

-THE TOOL I USE
Before I show you how I schedule my social media for the week, I want to (briefly) go over the tool I’m using. Of course, you don’t have to use the same one – there are many out there on the market that range from free, to incredibly expensive (at least for my not-so-deep pockets).

-COSCHEDULE
I fell in love with CoSchedule a couple of years ago when they were still pretty new and although I’ve tried many other social media scheduling applications, I keep coming back to this one. It’s what you see in that picture above and it’s my biggest secret to staying active on social media.

No, I’m not trying to sell you on it necessarily. But choosing a tool that works for you is the first step. I chose CoSchedule because it allows me to schedule posts for:

Facebook Groups – I am one of the admins of Grow Your Blog and I host 2 promo threads in there daily.
Facebook Pages – I have more than one blog, and I can schedule posts for either of my connected pages.
Facebook Profile – Sometimes I like to schedule posts to share with my own friends.

Twitter – Having more than one blog and therefor several Twitter accounts, I need to be able to schedule posts for them all.
Pinterest – I don’t use this feature often with CoSchedule (I’ll explain why later), but I can do it and it works great.
Google+ – I use this sparingly, but it’s because I don’t feel like that’s where my target audience is.

You want to choose a scheduler that you’re comfortable with and will provide you with the ability to schedule for a wide range of platforms. Having most of what I use in one place just makes life so much easier. (Best part, CoSchedule has a Chrome extension so I can grab content from any page, plus it can connect to my WordPress website).

(In case you’re interested in knowing more about the tool I use and why, here’s a little video highlighting some of its other features).
