Anambra community protests bad billings, outages by EEDC

Ugwagba Obosi Layout community in
Idemili North Local Government Area Anambra
State, yesterday, stormed the major streets in
the council area protesting against Enugu
Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, over
alleged “fraudulent billing, lack of prepaid
metres and non availability of light.”
The community called for massive transfer of
staff of EEDC working at 3, Obodoukwu Street,
Ugwuagba Layout, Obosi for alleged fraudulent
activities and hoarding of prepaid metres.
The protesting residents blocked the
Ezeiweka Road and other streets in the area
chanting anti-EEDC management songs with
various placards against the management,
disrupting vehicular movement for over two
hour.
Addressing newsmen, President General of the
community, Chief Osita Oji, said the residents
were tired of EEDC’s exorbitant bills and in the
midst of no power supply, and demanded the
installation of prepaid metres.
